This wedding was featured in South Asian Bride magazine. With coordination by Pinaki and Raakhi at Pink Rock Events, hair by the Monarch Beach Resort Salon, decor by Fayaz and Saman at 2 Create Designs, video by the always fabulous April and the team at Robles Video, DJ artistry by the awesome Sandeep Kumar, and lighting by Hemant at Ambiance AV. Don’t ask me why, but I love lenghas that have long sleeves. Of course, the photo didn’t do it justice, and when I finally saw it in person, it totally took my breath away. In fact, when the bride was in India to buy her outfits, she emailed me a really bad photo of the lengha she was considering, just to ask if I thought it would photograph well. The reception was chock-full of fun details, including hand-made booklets with pages of poetry for placecards, a huge magnum of red wine for guest signatures, a candy table, water boards, a gorgeous mix of red and turquoise decor, and reception outfits to die for. And let’s not forget the animals: The baraat and doli/viddai featured a horse and carriage, and the couple threw two doves into the air at the end of their ceremony. The bridesmaids all looked fabulous in their fuschia saris. The bride had two different bouquets made - one for the wedding and one for the reception - which I thought was a great idea. Fabric panels provided a romantic ambiance to the mandap, while colorful parasols gave the entire event a fun and stylish vibe. The wedding itself was an explosion of beautiful colors, including tangerines and fuchsias. A sangeet at the Dana Point Yacht Club followed, with the main wedding day taking place on the Grand Lawn at Monarch Beach Resort. The festivities started off with a South Indian ceremony at the Malibu Temple. She was on top of every detail from start to finish, and as the photos will attest, she did a great job creating a beautiful event. I honestly don’t know how the bride was able to oversee so many details, especially since the planning coincided with her preparations to begin her residency in orthopedic surgery. We have a suicide helpline for men and the maximum calls are from those who are falsely accused,” he said.Wedding photographers love working at the Monarch Beach Resort, and this beautiful three-day dual-ceremony Indian wedding was a wonderful example of a celebration that seamlessly blended both South Indian and Punjabi Hindu traditions.
“These false cases affect men so badly that it even leads them to suicide. The order, first shared by Jhakar, was then shared by Amit Malviya, BJP leader, as well. Essentially, the order says that the police commissioners will simply play Gurbani really loud so the voices and slogans of protesting teachers are drowned out when the Chef Minister visits. Their lives are ruined.” Activist Amit Deshpande explained that the aftermath of such false cases could lead men to take drastic steps in their life. If Gurbani Shabad/religious songs are played in, then their voices should not be heard.
Said Sherrin, “I support my bandmate Karan Oberoi it’s not about men or women, male or female, it’s about equality for all genders.” Added Barkha Trehan, “I’m here to show support to all my innocent brothers who have been falsely implicated in fake cases. Sherrin Varghese Sherrin Varghese (a member of Karan’s music band, A Band Of Boys) The event, organised by a foundation, saw several known names lend their voices to the #MenToo movement, like equal rights activist Barkha Trehan, activist Amit Deshpande, theatre personality Dolly Thakore, Karan’s sister Gurbani, his friend Sherrin Varghese (member of Karan’s music band, A Band Of Boys) and Maneck Contractor, among others. This is possible by modifying laws and strictly punishing those who file fake cases.” What this movement needs at this point is support, visibility, and among many agendas, the most important one is to put a stop to fake cases. There is a serious problem that needs to be addressed. How can you just let them suffer for no fault of theirs? So, this fight is not just mine, and it doesn’t end with me getting out of jail.” Pooja Bedi, who has been at the forefront of this movement and is one of Karan’s best friends and strongest supporters, said, “Movements like this are initiated because there is a need for it. However, there are many voiceless people, who do not have a support system, the means or money to help them. When I was in jail, there were so many people fighting for me outside. We are fighting for gender-neutral laws here. Every man is vulnerable if the law is misused.
I’m here today to support #MenToo, because I believe that justice shouldn’t be determined on the basis of one’s gender. So, when you are fighting for men’s rights, you are also addressing the whole family that has been affected. When I was in jail, the ones who suffered the most were my mother and sister. After being in prison for all those days, I can say that no one should go through such an ordeal ever. There are so many men out there who are falsely accused.
Karan Oberoi Karan Oberoi Talking to Bombay Times, Karan said, “After being wrongly accused, I realised that I’m not the only one.
